"good & tight" -- EVEN tension is more important, and tighten the front one first. I like to push "down" on the action with the gun upright to make sure the recoill lug is in contact. don't know if this actually makes a difference but it makes me feel better.

If properly bedded, white knuckle tight.
If not bedded, just good and firm.

tighten them until they strip out, then back them off a half a turn.....
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
