I've been looking at their site and emailing with them, they look to have great prices. It seems that they only install (or maybe just prefer) Douglas Barrels. I was going to send my build to PacNor to have them true, lap, chamber and install a barrel...but IT&D looks like a better deal.
Can I hear from anyone who has experiences with IT&D and/or Douglas Barrels? Looking to see if they do good work and are worth the savings.
Big Thanks!
Jason
PS....What groove options does Douglas offer, I didn't see anything on their website about that?
I know from reading here that IT&D has a great reputation. They will use whatever barrel that you want them to use. Douglas is a better than factory tube, but not much. I will never own another.........Blake

JJ There are some very talented gunsmiths on this very board who like and use Douglas barrels. Mr.Colman comes to mind. I can't speak for IT&D as I have never used them but i've used a few Douglas as well as a pile of others. The difference.? You will never be able to tell. Somewhere along the line on this board Douglas has gotten a bum wrap.Ill put forth that the gunsmith doing the chamber/accuracy work will have more to do with the the final outcome ,than barrel maker X Y or Z for sport hunting use. Alot of people feel that Douglas barrels foul more than say a Hart or a pac-nor.Douglas will tell you up front that they dont lap there barrels. They dont need it.The only thing that I can tell you about that is.Read your cleaning patches especially in the very beginning.Clean as required. You'll be a happy camper. dave
I only have one experience with them and Douglas barrels. Nothing bad at all. I even had them do some special request blueing. Everything was perfect. Here is my first range report and I should have another tomorrow. 338 Federal Range Report
Single Point Cut Barrels----you will never go back once you try one! Douglas---not really much better than a factory tube but you spend your money as you see fit. If Douglas was a good barrel you would see it on the equipment lists of the folks who compete in the shooting sports. Personally, I have never seen one at a 1k Match that I have shot in---most people who are there want to win and the Douglas tube wont get you there no matter who chambers it all things being equal. People get hooked on products for different reasons but just do the due diligence and come to your own conclusions.

I.T.& D. has been doing my barrels for over twenty years. I've never had any bad work from them.
Dave will use any barrel you desire, but with the extra cost of the more expensive barrel you choose figured in.
I often purchase my pac-nor barrels online, and when I get them I send the action or barreled action along with the pac-nor to Dave with my instructions.
I'd recommend a pac-nor barrel from them direct, and installation from I.T.& D. The cost will be less than having pac-nor do all the work, and it will be just as good!

That's kind of the route I think I'm headed! Thanks for the validation.
Just mailed a check to Dave today. He got my action 3 weeks ago last Fri. and I got a bill for the finished work in the mail today. This is my 1st from him, can't wait to see how she does.

Jason, I have 3 NULA rifles all with Douglas barrels. I would say that on the onset they required a bit more cleaning than Lillija, Hart, or Krieger barrels that I have used. But they all shoot really well. In a hunting rifle I would put on a Douglas and not look back. hell I just had Mickey Coleman install a Shaw barrel om my .375. Go down to the reloading forums and look at the groups..dont think another barrel could improve them. That said however in a competition rifle I want to eliminate every possible variable and get the max accuracy or extra tenth of a inch advantage...for these purposes I will only put my money down on the very best barrel I can buy. A extra hundred or two hundred dollars extra doesn't matter....when I am trying to eliminate all the variables. Thats what the premium barrels do. (hopefully!) as far as groove size number of lands....minutiea that can't be PROVED one way or the other to make any difference.

For every shooter that has a sour taste about brand x, there is one with a similar story about brand y..........
YMMV

not saying anything bad about Douglas barrels, they are better than a factory barrel. Like I said not much though. Would take Pac-Nor anyday over a Douglas, as they shine from the get go........Blake

I have no idea how many guys actually shoot benchrest here. Most seem to be hunters who handload their own ammo in hopes of getting a sub MOA rifle/handload combo. I wonder how many guys are really getting 1/4 moa accuracy on a regular basis? Last I checked these days 1/4 moa will only get you a also attended mention at a NBR match.
Currently my brother is struggling with a 264 WM with a Shielen barrel. He is wishing he stuck with the gunsmith who built his 7mm STW AI instead of a "new guy". The gunsmith who built the 7mm used a Douglas barrel. For the past 15 years it has put the 1st 3 shots one on top of each other.
As it has already been said here, the guy who cuts the chamber and installs the barrels has a huge influence on the finial out come.
For all my rifles that are blued, I use Douglas barrels. I bought my first Douglas barrel in 1960, and have bought about a dozen since then. They shoot extremely well, so I will never look elsewhere for a CM barrel. My 22-250 with a Douglas barrel shoots three shots at 100 yards into 1/4". All others shoot 3 shots into 3/8" groups at 100. Granted, there are other elemnets that come into play for getting good groups, but the Douglas barrels are doing their fair share, and always have for me. For stainless rifles, I use Hart barrels, and have been doing so since 1968. All have delivered excellent accuracy, so I'll always buy them.
IT&D has done two barrels for me in the last three months, just got the second one back last week. they will be getting another action from me next week.
I like them.
I have used nothing but douglas and shilen barrels for my rifles. the douglas are as good as any I have seen.
I had them do a .270 on a Springfield 1903-A3 action with a Douglas barrel. I just got it back from the guy that did the stock work so I haven't had a chance to shoot it. The work looks just fine to me. I have another Douglas on a 7x57 and it shoots very well. I also have Kriegers and Obermeyers that shoot very well. Actually, I don't have any custom that shoots badly. Even my factory stuff shoots pretty well.
I wouldn't hesitate to use I,T,&D again, except I found a local guy that is doing good work cheap.

Yesterday I shot my 7-08 that I.T&D did some work on. It's my cheapy. Had a SA 700 and a extra A&B 280Rem Mauser barrel. They cut off the Mauser threads, rethread, chamber, crown and installed on my action. 2 shots to get on paper and see attached first group. Used the old campfire 7-08 load which I have always used 120BT and 44gr R15.
