If you were Waldo and his buddy Wendell, two young muley bucks, where would you be spending your day? .

I'd be chasing young doe tail
Which reminds me, a college roomate had a shirt titled, where's [bleep]. Always good for a snicker when he wore it. The funniest time though when was his mother saw it. She was both eccentric and somewhat naive, I guess a better way to say it would be having had 4 sons drove her stark raving mad
Anyhoo, she looks at the title of the shirt, and the people on the shirt, and in the most innocent voice says, "Is he the tall slender fellow?"
Containing our laughter was a challenge.

There are two bucks in the pic but I don't expect you to see them. It's the 'where' that matters, a lesson in hunting.

I would expect to find them high, probably in the brush in the upper right of the picture. When we lived in the canyon ranch there was a monster and he would lie at the base of the palisades. Just about in the middle of the picture below was his favorite afternoon napping spot.

kyclem, that's my barrel on the left, not an antler.
Scott F, a good, normal, expectation. (BTW, that 'brush' is a patch of aspens. Max distance in the pic is 900+ yds.) (Your pic is of some pretty country.)
(Edited to 900 yds. I remeasured on my map 'cause 700 wasn't feeling right.)

They would be just inside the line of the dense growth on the left side. I cant help but think there is more to this story that we simply cant tell by a picture. aka: cant win

The deer should be in one of the three aspen patches, or perhaps tucked into the groups of willows to the right. With experience I've come to expect them in the shade of the cutbank of the little creek or, still to my amaze, taking advantage of the bit of shade in the erosion cuts on the face of the slope just above center (is that where you meant, ky clem?). But these guys were under the bush just low-left of center in the pic. What in tarnation are they doing in the middle of the flat bottom, under a lone willow bush, with no tricky escape route?!?! I learn more every time I hunt. Just when I think I've got their habits nailed, they pull another trick. Of course, these are young bucks, not the big boys I'm after. Naturally, I know more about the habits of dinks and does than I do about those of Old MossyHorns. But I'm learning... .

458 Lott,
Reminds me of a very bright young female grad student who used to refer to people as "[bleep]", in the context of "dork" - you get the idea. Someone finally asked her if she knew what the word meant. Oh, the embarrassment!
