mine works no matter what . i put a leather wrap on the leaver to help my fingers wile working the action. looks cool also! ammo can be a bit longer in the 1886 than the marlin, it is said it is a bit stronger as well. turnbull said winchester tried a experment with a 46 winchester that ran 60,000 cup! get it and have fun, that is what it is for. by the way i shot my bison with mine and had no second thoughts.
