A Bit off track but a couple of years ago when the Tom Hanks film "Charlie Wilsons War" was out I did have the thought how different would things have been if we had stayed out of it and let the Russians have Afghanistan? While I don't consider Russia our friend I do see them as at least having some common sense and enough self interest to more or less avoid a war. Certainly nothing like N Korea or The extreame elements of the Middle East. Sometimes we need to just mind our own business.
