what I was reading a bit ago, was that the Russians were only attacking the Free Syrian fighters, and leaving ISIS alone for now.
They are really only in Syria to back up Assad, not to fight the new caliphate.
The article above, essentially, states the same. The Russian's first strikes were not in ISIS strongholds but in areas where anti-Assad groups are located.
