I think most of the Euro politicians are driven by both an empathy to what they think is a humanitarian crisis, and an overriding guilt left over from the Holocaust. That leaves them vulnerable to criticism anytime they try to protect their borders and their culture. They are deathly afraid of being called racist and xenophobic.
The enemy knows this and is exploiting it. Yes, Islam is the enemy of Europe because its goal is to destroy European Culture and replace it with Muslim culture. They tried in the Middle Ages and they have regrouped and are back for another shot at it.
