I think box calls are the easiest to master. Pots are next easier. Diaphragms will take time and lots of practice.

I also agree that cheap production calls are definitely the place to start. Once you figure out the game, then consider customs. Even then, I use some of my old Lynch and Quaker Boys more than my customs.
