The RAR has a barrel twist rate of 1 in 14". So it ought to shoot the heavier rounds better then the older 1 in 16" twist rate. Ruger was considering bringing the RA out in left hand bolt action - but that decision seems to be still on the back burner. The 22 magnum is nice cartridge. I'm not a fan of any 17 caliber because one has to be cautious when cleaning the barrel. So I've passed on the 17 and find the 22 mag to be good for what it is.
