I have a very old 700 ADL with a wood stock, love this rifle. A girl friend got me a 700 ADL in 243. One of the worst shooting rifles I've ever owned. I removed it from the stock, hard job, felt like the stock was poured around it. To get it apart I had to bang toe barrel on the back of my couch. From there I re-bedded everything and floated the barrel. The recoil lug was so tight, I think it was the major problem in getting it apart. I don't like plastic stock's but have to admit that after I got done with it, it shot fine. I shoot 75gr V-Max's in it and it stays under an inch.

I wouldn't get another for no other reason than the plastic stock. I like the 700 a good deal and prefer the ADL version.
