I'm not trying to turn it into a GM vs ford thing, like some are. I'm just asking if you think the ad is fake? If so, Ford has a case. Kind of like when the news media has to use a model rocket motor to get a 73-88 gm to burst into flames with a side impact. Fake.

FWIW, I think aluminum will become more common in all auto panels as time goes on. I bet they ALL end up doing it. Trimming off over 500 pounds of weight from the truck increases its cargo and tow capacity and it gets better mileage. Plus no rust. Of course, if a tool box dropping from the bed rail can puncture it, there may be a bit more engineering needed for trucks that actually get used.
