I don't even own one but when asked for a one gun recommendation with elk on the menu its Tikka 300WSM with a good scope. Just about 300WM performance in a short action available in lots of places if you don't load your own. In my opinion it is this century's 30-06 and gains you an extra 100 yards of reach with no weight gain and a modest recoil increase.
