I made the original statement based on a few factors Steve. That the country had not gone to civil war and the South became the CSA. A CSA and USA would likely have meant that the South would not have had a standing army nor much heavy industry. It most likely would have stayed agricultural and the North industrial. Support for GB and France during the early years of WWl would have been difficult if not impossible. Could you imagine those 2 gov'ts agreeing on anything??(the USA and CSA) Without the material support of the USA in WWl Germany would have kicked the asses of GB and France. Keep in mind that the U-Boats had nearly choked off Britan as it was.
