I talk to more than a few truckers every day of the week, and have for the last 16 years, and I've never heard any BS like that. Well......are most of those truckers in their 80's or 90's......or "Not Exactly"......???
ALASKA is a "HARD COUNTRY for OLDMEN". (But if you live it wide'ass open, balls'to the wall, the pedal floored, full throttle, it is a delightful place, to finally just sit-back and savor those memories while sipping Tequila).
