From the dark recesses of our souls we all KNOW the 300 Weatherby is the quintisential "300 Magnum".....but Skane is right when it comes to recoil.
I have owned a few of both,and the 300 WSM is a gentler, easier shooting round in a somewhat handier package. I have never pulled off a shot with a 300 Weatherby that I could not have made with the WSM....but if it's the "perception" you want,....well... the Weatherby makes the chronograph really ring
The WSM is maybe the more practical choice if you relish shootability, portability, light weight, etc.
