The Weaver V-16 is very popular among 22 RF shooters. It focuses close, has adequate optics, and is rugged. I had seven of them over the years, but not all at one time. I have three now. I think that 16x is enough to shoot max distances with a 22RF. In mid-day, when the mirage is real bad, 14x is about the max power I can use and still see the target well.
It is also very popular with the springer air rifle shooters. It is one TOUGH scope. I keep one in Leupold QR rings to move around from one rifle to another for load testing at 100 yards. 16x is enough for seeing bullet holes at 100 yards.
From 11 years of experience using V-16's, I gotta say it may very well be THE best scope Weaver ever made. It's in the same league as the older Bushnell Scopechiefs in terms of design and assembly.
The V-16 is in your price range too.
