I think rost said he's had a Leupold that went bad due to the bolt carrier coming forward, much like an air gun.
But luckily for me, I've never had any problems with VXIII's or MK4's and I know for dang sure that I had at least one 1.5-5 with more than a few thousand rounds on it without issue and a couple of 3.5-10's. In fact I have one 3.5-10 that started it's life on a Colt that had at least 3000 rounds on it and it now resides on my 17" Kreiger (I think?) so you can add another 1000 rounds or so on it.
My BUIS's and detachable mounts are more because I like to shoot irons and do but in the event that I do have a scope failure I'm all set.
