Although I was shot at on multiple occasions, I do not consider myself a "combat vet" like those who were, say, 11 Bravo's.
I do belong to VFW, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, AMVETS.


I went down in five birds, and always considered the crew on a chopper to be equale to anybody else. And you will find that 99% of the combat vets have the same exact opinion. Just the life expectancey of a door gunner alone is a scarey thought. In 1968 it was often measured in hours. I remember watching a Huey being shredded by a 51 cailber and saying to myself "whatkind of a fool would want to ride in one of those things!" Give yourself your just do
