We have both.
The S&W has the better trigger and better adjustable sights (if you get 'em). The Ruger weighs more, so soaks up more recoil - but aftermarket grips are required to really get the benefit of that, IMO. Both are accurate and reliable.
My wife had the SP101 for a while. After she took a chance to shoot my 3" 60as, she took took possession of it and let me have the Ruger. I knew that wold happen.
