When the Soviet Army rolled into Afghanistan in all it's aircraft and mechanized might, the tribes were armed mostly with British No.1Mklll Enfields and Mauser 98's. At that time they had a high standard of marksmanship. Pretty soon they all had AK's. Good thing for us because they forgot how to shoot, but beating them hasn't showed itself to be a cakewalk for anybody regardless of the sophisticated hardware.
