Look SWFA's Sample List for some bargains...sometimes. NY CameraLand is another good resource for Sample/Demo scopes.
+1 on the 3x9x40 Conquest, simple Duplex Crosshair IMO is adequate with that caliber out to 300 yards. Buy the best glass & WARRANTY you can find. I've been running Burris FF II's on several rifles for years, had good service out of the Warranty Shop with quick turnarounds and would be my buy in the $200 range.
