Angus1895, I believe the 85 grain BT's you mentioned are listed as a varmint category by Nosler. Probably best to stay away from them on big game.

34-35 grains H4895 with 87 grain Speer Hot-Cors are standard fodder for the recent 99s I have owned. Bullet works great on Midwest Whitetails.

Dad had a M99T that he loaded 87 grain pre-Hot-Cor bullets with IMR3031. Don't rember how many grains he used but he trimmed cases every third time. The load was deadly on Wisconsin Whitetails and killed Antelope and Mule deer out west.
