The Ruger didn't like the first test loads of 34gr of imr4895 behind a 55gr. Hornaday sp. I didn't even measure it but had to be at least 1 1/2" and the primer was starting to show pressure so I'm not going higher unless a different seating depth reduces the pressure. This was with the bullet seated .010 off.
But on the other hand, my son shot this group in the remington 700 sps that I recently traded for, this was a load that shoots great in and old 700 bdl I have. Needless to say this one isn't going anywhere. He added the rifle cost to the I owe dad list on the side of the frig. Where we keep track of all his gun purchases until he work or pays them off.
Best group he has ever shot.
