Most of my life has been spent in Oregon and Washington. Populations have grown to where there is development in places you'd never have imagined and lots of places that were great hunting or fishing were attractive enough to become yuppie infestations. Still, this is home and there are still a couple corners of both states with decent local hunting and fishing. I've gone past the age of big hunting trips. My knees limit mobility so spending thousands on a hunt I cannot fully enjoy seems insane. The final element in staying in the Pacific Northwest is a need to occasionally be out on the ocean. Retirement is a few years off so we're looking for a place that will remain OK for a few more years where there's a small town lifestyle and I'll have a chance to do some hunting and fishing near home.
