Actually it is. I've had cause to look into this issue and records dating back to the '30s track this trend. The Army Corps of Engineers recently reviewed a coastal mining permit application and in the process identified that our annual rise averages 1.8mm/yr for the period of record. It does not come from melting ice, but rather from warming of ocean waters. It expands, sea level rises.

One can debate the cause, but the effect is very real. People down in SE Florida are all in a dither about it. Screw 'em.
