Both a camper and a trailer will screw your mileage. There's no getting around that. Where a camper sucks is in wind, even with air bags. I also prefer a trailer because I can just park it and have the use of the pickup without having to unload the camper.

I've seen a few campers, or parts thereof, lying in barrow pits because the owner failed to have adequate tie downs. Make them SOLID. It would ruin your whole day to see your $20k camper fly off the back.

Some campers are outrageously overpriced. How can they justify $25k or more for that?
