Carroll somehow survived all the risky call-playing to that point. Obviously had convinced himself he was a genius....whatever stupid/risky play he called.
Been thinking about this and I believe Carroll made the call because Wilson asked for the ball on 1st down. Big mistake yes but I can see that happening, which could explain why Lynch seems pizzed all the time and wanting to leave.
