The .40 cal rebated boat tail is a great shooter. I have worked with it on and off for 10 years finding a way to protect the base from getting deformed when the charge gets set off. So I made a base punch for a deep cup and wrapped the patch so it just goes over the start of the rebate and seated the bullet over a wad stack, card over the powder, lube wad, butcher paper wad over the bullet and wheat flour under the bullet. The flour in that deep cup base holds the base from getting smashed.
That bullet in the .40-70 shoots very good past the 1K, but it is a pain to make the bullet.
That bullet also has a small diameter cavity hollow point to change the balance point of the bullet.
That bullet takes more effort to make and shoot then it's worth.
