Upon arrival on the scene at 2:39 AM, Officers were advised that Tommy Woodward, of Orange, and a female were swimming in the bayou when the 28 year old Woodward was attacked by a large alligator. Apparently the quote from the deceased man, just after he was made aware of the alligator's presence was, "F___ that alligator!"
Of course the story wouldn't be complete without some intrigue and revenge. And that's what Orange, Texas got in the aftermath of the alligator (who apparently WAS swimming) attack.
Within a few days the 11.5' alligator was found dead at the boat ramp with a bullet hole between his eyes. That's when the imposters flooded the phone lines, calling the local news stations and taking credit for the revenge killing.
Luckily, the actual avenger had taken a photograph of himself with the illegally killed alligator and quickly circulated it, proving that he was indeed the suspect.
TP&W Game Wardens have issued the killer's killer a warning to not kill killer alligators without a license anymore.
They also just plucked one out of a river in New Jersey past couple days.
Obviously someones pet they let loose, but dang.
