The local bait shop is out of red wigglers so I went by Wal-mart to get some. Noticed their "we're out of .22 ammo" sign was down so asked. Yep, they have some. It's Winchester 37gr 1330fps long rifle.
$5.97/hundred. First time I've seen that sign down in two years.

Websterparish47: Good for you! And that ammo at that price is a truly GOOD DEAL! I have not seen 22 L.R. Hunting ammo at a Wal-Mart in 34 months now! The closest Wal-Mart to me is 65 miles each way so I do NOT get by that store to often. But I do travel A LOT and I always stop at any Wal-Mart I pass. I remember the good ol'days when Wal-Marts had stacks/palates of Federal 22 L.R. hollow-points and they would sometimes be priced at $8.97 for 550 packs! Those 37 grain Winchesters are accurate in my heavy barrel 22 Rifles. I do prefer the Winchester 40 grainers - but again I have a hard time finding those so I take what I come across. If I were you I would go buy a lottery ticket. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

I have been to two Bass Pro shops, two Gander Mountain, and a couple of LGS. No .22 at all, at any price. The Academy Sports had none, Wally World had none. I don't think this will be rectified in the near future.

Was at local Walmart for a couple of items and had to ask the locations. The fifth person I was referred to worked the gun counter and actually knew where the items were I wanted. I thanked her and she asked if she could help on anything else to which I replied not unless you have any .22 ammo, I nearly dropped when she not only said yes but how many. Multiple bricks and boxes of Thunderbolt. Today I wandred through Freddies (Fred Myers)and they had a good stack of Blazers at the gun counter. I think I also heard angelic choirs singing too.
I'm not cheap, I'm frugal.

I picked up 200 rounds of Federal American Eagle at an Academy Sports Saturday evening. Limit of 2 boxes, so the girlfriend was my "straw buyer". They also had some Remington. It is trickling in here and there.

Been finding it regularly now at Academy. We have have a guy Renegade50 call him Scalper Steve. It's some viet nam vet guy with a store front. He has EVERY type of 22 ammo known to mankind. He does make a small premium but he does stock the hard to find types for discriminating paper punchers.

Saturday morning Aug.15th Adventure Outdoors in Atlanta had more CCI Mini-Mag HPs than I have ever seen in one place. Several pallets stacked 6ft high. Cases and case of the stuff. $9.99 per 100rds. Also Federal Auto Match for $21.99 per 325rds. No limit, the ck-out girl said back up your truck and we will load all you want.

Since last December I have been able to aquire about 4000 rounds. Usually stop at gun shops and hope for the best. Last purchase was Sunday at Dick's. They had Federal 325 count for 19.99. I haven't seen any at Wal-Mart in over 2 years. Every Sunday morning I check Dick's weekly add on line. Seems every 2 or 3 weeks they have something. And there are no lines any more like there used to be.
Fall seven times, stand up eight.

MONTANA is the worst place on the planet for 22. Tinfoil and mlishas, ya know. Ever read the back of a Montana road sign?
