Last Friday was my last day at work with TXDOT as a design specialist. 24 years and 11 months with them.
I'm actually semi retired will be working with a friend of mine selling old trucks and a few cars out of my property.
I don't think its sunk in yet what I've done, I still have this weird feeling I need to get to work on some highway plans we're behind on.
I have plenty to do around my place so I'm sure that feeling will pass.

Know what you mean. My first year not teaching. Very concerned what my replacement is teaching "my students".

I retired as a teacher just over 5 years ago. Never been busier and don't know how I ever had time to work.

Congrats, quite the accomplishment. I retired from a job I started at a young age after 26 years. Now I do a part time job, and frequently tell them, "no, I don't really want to work full time."

My experience has been that once you leave the job you grew up learning, that other jobs don't inspire the same passion or sense of being as my previous job.

Good Luck in whatever your future holds for you.

Know the feeling. I do the same... and tell them the same... about 1/2 a dozen times a week. smile

Congrats!
I thought I retired 10 years ago but when I put on my reading glasses it said "retreaded"
so busy I haven't been fishing in 2 years.
Oh I forgot, I stole a sunday and went Brookie fishing in the meadow while checking the high country graze.

I retired a little over four years ago. I remember the shock of it well. Congratulations, it is way underrated.

Congratulations, I have been retired for almost twenty years now, still go into the S.O. every morning for a couple three hours doing data entry to relieve the deputies of the task. Spend an hour or two doing St. Vincent dePaul stuff for my council (I take care of the electronic and small appliance donations), now wife takes up a bunch of my time helping her out since she broke a wing.

T

that is very good of you. I am sure, the deputies really appreatiate you doing it.

Wishing your wife a speedy and full recovery.

I have retirement all figured out - just 30 more years to go.

LOL
