Only one reason McCarthy dropped out and that is there wasn't enough votes to elect him. Conservative bunch won't support him but are struggling to find someone else. Gowdy does NOT want the job. I doubt Paul Ryan does either. He's got a young family and the job has a LOT of traveling. I do think Ryan would be good though.

The locals here are pushing for Mac Thornberry... He's my Rep.... and a good one. Chairman of the Armed Services Subcommittee so he is not from completely outside the Leadership. Jeb Hensarling is another Texan who's name was mentioned today. I forget which Committee he chairs. No more Leaders from Blue States. Too much potential conflict of interest in pushing correct National Priorities and keeping the folks at home happy.
