Will the Hawkey stabilize a 75gr pill @ a 1:9? I have the chance to pick up an all weather Hawkeye for less that $500 and I think it sounds like a great deal, just hope 1:9 is ok. Construction-wise, I really prefer the Hawkeye to the RAR, but the 1:8 is nice

Ah, I see you found the same deal I did earlier at CDNN Sports. That one has me very tempted as well!

My Hawkeye shoots 65 grain SGKs, and 64 Nosler solid base well enough. Have not tried anything heavier.

Construction-wise, I really prefer the Hawkeye to the RAR, but the 1:8 is nice I've shot 69 gr. sierra's thru my Hawkeye 223 rem and they stabilized just fine. Sorry, never tried the 75 grainers... As far as comparing the Hawkeye to the RAR: I'd buy the Hawkeye way before ever considering the RAR. To each his own though..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I mean to me 499 for the all weather Hawkeye seems like a great deal, it may not be but they don't even make them anymore
