Looks like she'll be losing the front part of her foot for sure, and probably at least part of her lower leg.
It's hard for us to think of a better place for the clots to have lodged, though, if they had to lodge somewhere. Arms? Lungs? Heart? Brain? If we have to take lower leg, we'll take lower leg.

I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

Thanks again, folks, from all four of us.
Latest word is that she'll lose about half of her lower left leg, which means that she'll keep enough to work a prosthetic with. Other than the leg, they've got her feeling much better; the word is that she'll be getting biweekly infusions of some chemotherapy drug (she couldn't remember the name and it wasn't on the IV stand) for the rest of her life or until the disease goes into remission.
Her husband is taking it pretty well, bearing up under it like a man worthy of the name. Penny and I are feeling pretty good about that; in this day and age it certainly wouldn't be unheard of for a husband to figure that this was more than he bargained for and bugger off.

Connie says the doctors have brought a couple of groups of medical students in to see her, just because her disease is so rare. A club no one wants to join. Glad to hear she is doing better.

I hate to hear about her left leg but you are correct in that it could have been a lot worse. Had it lodged in the lungs or heart it could have been devastating. Sounds like she picked the right man to stand by her side as well. I will continue to pray for all of you.
