Sorry to hear of this. We really don't know how much time we have left, do we?

RIP, regards to the survivors.

I remember RD posting old pictures of his dad in uniform. Although I have never met those on the campfire that have left their earthly home, it still leaves a sadness and void when a kindred spirit leaves the fire for the last time.

God's peace to his family. RIP RDFinn...........

He was a real gentleman, and always willing to share his knowledge.

I will miss him.

That's a shocker. I never met Roy personally but we got to know each other pretty well through e-mails over the years. My condolences to his family.

God-Speed to one of the good guys. I got to know him through Facebook. Heck of a nice guy who most certainly loved his family, guns and freedom.

Godspeed, Roy. Thoughts and prayers for those left behind.

Bigger than life I'd say. We are diminished.

I know he thought a lot of you, John. He used to email me excerpts from your articles and reference your opinions of gear in our email conversations. I too felt I knew him very well through email conversations, in spite of never having met him.

I extended an open invitation to him to come down and hunt with me, and he said he wanted to do so some day. I regret we were never able to make that hunt happen.

He and I had many conversations over emails about high end guns, knives, and optics. We had the same tastes in gear, it seems. As a result, I bought a nice custom knife from him a year ago that I cherish. He gave me the first opportunity to buy it from him because through our conversations, he knew I'd really appreciate it.

Damn, this hurts!

RifleDude;
Thanks for letting us know this sad news sir.

I too only knew him here, but had a few pleasant exchanges for sure.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends left behind.

RIP sir.

Yes Ted, I appreciate the news, albeit very, very sad news. He was a very generous and honest guy, no doubt, and one that will be surely missed around here. I know I will.

Prayers sent to the surviving family, and may God bring them peace. RIP RD.

RD and I spent many a message talking scopes and hunting.
Always looked forward to his posts on the optics board.
This is a sad day and I will miss him.

Sad news for sure.

RIP Roy, prayers for your family. Not sure why you left us so early in your life. The Lord must of needed another good man.

Rest In Peace.

Truly one of the good guys around here. We're losing way too many recently. When I respond to these it makes me feel a little guilty that I haven't made more of an effort to attend some of the get togethers. Makes me feel like I owe it to the Fire to go put a face with a name, shake a few hands, tell a few lies, and solidify some of the friendships I've made through this site.

Rest in Peace RD.

God just got a good one.
