Hey Brian, if you are coming how about tossing in that Mosin Nagant you brought last time.. I didn't get to shoot it but was thinking about one...
would be fun to test drive one first...
I can pick up some ammo for it, so you wouldn't have to worry about that.. just let me know if you are making it so I'll pick up some...
Thanks Buddy!

Well if no one else speaks up, I'll liberate that from your possession....
could use it to feed an 1873 Colt 45....
pistol and shot gun powder has been a little scarce in these parts for a while...

Well the hotel is booked and I should arrive noonish Friday. What can I bring to support the effort? Still sorting rifles as I needed a shorter front blade for my 416 Rem M70. Midway sent the Marbles I requested but it just about slides through the dovetail. The previous, a Marbles of taller height, fit good and snug. I hope to get it sorted before I depart.

Ed - glad to hear you are coming. Good stuff.
The dovetail loose fit - hate it when that happens - once did a fix (short-term, at least) using some thin strands of copper wire on one side of the cut and did a crush fit by gently forcing the sight into the slot - trimmed the strands that stuck out afterward.
More permanent? Maybe tiny peening or knurling of the sight dovetail surface, maybe a very thin brass shim or, if it fits fairly snug already, maybe just some low-strength Loctite once it is centered. Some of the smarter/more experienced guys here probably will offer better ideas.

Those of you coming for colder climates, we had 86 degrees here today; a record high. Supposed to have record highs all week long. Next week doesn't call for records but should be much nicer than, say, Northern Minnesota.! Come and enjoy!

Per your advice I cut a piece of copper Lewis Lead Remover patch, the only "shim" stock I could find in the shop, placed it under the sight and tapped it snugly in place. Hit the range and the 416 is now dead on at 50 yards using a 400 gr Original Barnes lobbed at 2200 fps or so. Muchos gracias.
