Rifles like that can be found; generally used Sakos, FN Mauser factory sporters, and pre-64 Winchesters. Haven't handled any, but I imagine pre-war Remingtons could also be included, along with older Savage 99s.

They're generally kind of heavy, and often a bit worn, but in my experience they work and often cost less than middle-range modern production rifles. I see a few in gunshops and a lot of them online.

To be fair, the new rifles I've bought have only had minor issues that were easily fixed, or none at all like the Vanguard I bought last Fall. According to fans here, Tikkas are generally good to go out of the box, but don't visually appeal to me, although the newest one has some subtle changes that help a good bit in that department. I haven't seen any for sale yet, though.

Yea me too

I'll jump on that bandwagon!

My brother has an original Newton rifle in 256 Newton. I've drooled over it since I was a teenager in the Dark 1970s.

The world would be a better place if Husqvarna would start making 1900 bolt action rifles again. That is one smooth action with accuracy to boot.

Nah...

I zeroed my MRC campfire special .260 in 3 shots, and without touching the windage adjustment on the scope. Excellent trigger out of the box and bedded right from the get-go. ~$1300...

I'd like to see Sako/Beretta put the L461 rifle back on the shelf.

And particularly so in a 1/8 .223

"New" savage 99s, Marlin rifles made like they were pre Remington I'd love for Melvin to figure out a way to mass produce rifles like my CLR/NULA hybrid.

I have RE read this whole thread and I am the only 1 to mention BLR 338 F.

I've had Savage 99 358 - and BLR 358. With Hornady 200 HSP they make a very good medium range rifle. When you go heavier you start loosing steam.

Obviously never had a BLR 338 - It seems to me that the 338 F would LEAVE the 358 in the dust PLUS

have HEAVY and PREMIUM bullets for ANY purpose.

I think some--rifle makers-- have missed the bus. Just my personal opinion.
