I figure the rains always start when I decide to go camping...I'll just have to plan to be there a week early and things should be just fine when the rest of you boys get there....

Well, all of this talk may be a stimulant - am seeing some darker grey formations to the Southwest - and they are looking lower. Have finally gotten some preferred 6.5/06 loads finished and was planning to try them later today - so, yeah, probably going to rain. Let's hope.

Just looked at NWS radar, Paul. Looks like a pretty good cell is building over you and just to the SW. Praying for rain for you guys. SW Rockies Loop LINK P.S. You'll have to share the 6.5-'06 loads... Ed

Ed, Is you're work schedule still in conflict with your play schedule ?
Sure would like to see you there at Armijo Springs.

Owl!
Wifey has been bustin' her buns on that chow chow all afternoon. She's half way thru first batch. I dunno if it's gonna be any good, but the whole Kitchen smells like grandmaw's used to smell. So I guess that's a good thing!
I went and picked her 4 giant green tomatoes out of the garden a minute ago and helped her run them and an onion thru the processor. Otherwise this is her production! I've been out in the bottom running a chainsaw and an idiot stick.
Prolly bring several jars with me to camp. We'll see!!!!
(Thanking God there ain't any of the devil's veggie BEETS in the stuff!!!)

I get on a plane at DFW at 07:30 AM, Saturday morning and will be in Seattle for the following seven days. I would much rather be at Armijo Springs than Seattle. Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen. I will miss you folks, too. Have a cup of coffee for me. Ed

Can I bring this? If so how much ammo do I have to load up? Gotta make sure I've got enough brass for it around here...

Trailer repair is estimated a little over five grand and it is covered by insurance. The bad news they will not get the parts until after we are back home so it will be a tent for us. We will sleep in the car or find a campground for the two nights it takes us to get there.

Hi Thomas - the forest still LOOKS good above ground, but the understory is becoming more dry and brown/brittle by the day. As with all of the SW, our day temps have been well above normal, which is a good rain factor, but no rain since mid-May, and none in sight.
We need some disturbance down southwest on the Mex coast/gulf or southeast in the G of M to send some moisture sweeping this way. We've had a few big puffy clouds yesterday and today, but no heavy darker stuff seems to be brewing. Unless ours circles up around from the G of M, you guys down there will know it is coming before we do. We had a nice little rainstorm in the Sandia Mountains east of Albuquerque that extended south at least to Edgewood and Tijeras. Unfortunately it lasted only a couple of hours, but it certainly helped in wetting down the Dog Head Fire there. Hopefully, it is a sign of more to come.

Hot and still tonight. Old-timers down here say that it has to get this way for ten days to two weeks before the monsoon rains kick in. That puts it at just about July 4th, and that is just about when they usually do start down here. KOB TV predicted a chance of showers for the Quemado area tomorrow--hope they're right! ++
