Sounds good to me!

HELL NO..... That's 75 miles from my house. You have any idea how much trouble I can have in 75 miles?

Don't know about how much you can have, but know you can get into a bunch just sitting still. grin

well curdog, i see you live in north texas. North texas i think has hogs. I want to kill hogs.
i also have a dodge pickup, diesel, probably would pull yours if it broke down.
75miles isn't much, for hogs i would gladly pull you that far and the trailer.

How are we going to get hogs to stand up on a bowling pin table?

This gonna be around the first part of October? If it happens, that is.

How far north in north Texas?

Yes, yes you will. It's mighty rugged in Gene's part of the country, particularly around the big cities like Mabelle, Holliday, Archer City, Seymore, and Electra. grin

I don't know exactly where Gene lives, but I had to be close on my way back. Thought about trying to get in contact, but had a Dr. appointment and needed to keep moving. I took a scenic route instead of my normal I-40. I went South from Socorro, to San Antonio, and then over to US Hwy 70, and followed it a long ways. Went through Wichita Falls and then on down to I-30. They were setting up to block traffic in the area where Gene got blocked, at 7:30 AM. I went through while before they got it set up. miles

Gene - kept watching for you to drive into Armijo Springs campsite last weekend - missed you a bunch. Didn't get the update on your travel issues until after the end.

If you have a deal at your place, will do all possible to be there.

Very carefully. Or do what BigBuck215 suggested. grin

We only have three seasons here..... too hot, too cold, and October, so you are thinking right.

If I went due North, I'd be wading the Red at about the 65 mile mark.

There is no room to camp and no place to shoot at the fishing camp.

We have a gun range adjacent to the Community Center but it only has 100 yards to shoot and it is for members only. I'll see if I can get a waiver for a weekend in Oct.

I can probably put a couple guys on hogs a day or so before the meeting by putting up a couple of feeders. We could cast lots among those who have never killed a hog and come a long way.

We will just keep this sticky alive, piggy backing on Paul's thread and I'll see what we can do.

A few more pics from camp:

The Buckle Winners, L to R -- Oldman03 for the Hunter Steel shoot. Always a top shooter in this event, he continues to anger critics by beating them with his trusty .270. Some have surmised that he bounces the bullet off the 200 yard steel so that it will actually reach the 300 line.

Next is DennisinAz, who won the 150 yard 22 Long Distance Rimfire shoot using his CZ. He also won the 200 yard P. Dog shoot with his 22-250 Savage. Paladin claimed the Dangerous Game prize shooting no less than his 470 NE, an act that deserves its own trophy.

This is the Bowling Pin shoot setup. Lots of ladies and kids shot this, thanks to encouragement, coaching and leadership from Brian and ScottF. Paladin gets more cool points for running this table with his 500 S & W, AKA "the 20 gauge revolver".

Bunny shooting the event with one of Brian's vintage S&Ws:

If critters could talk, we may have had some complaints about this year's event.

It gets kinda loud without hearing protection:

[Linked Image]

Unfortunately for Ma and Pa bluebird, their nest (in a dead Ponderosa branch) ended up directly above the shooter's position for the Hunter Steel shoot.

Kaywoodie gets Major Super Cool Points for shooting the Hunter Steel shoot with his Model 1895. The 200 yard gong screamed for mercy!

[Linked Image]

This is the 200-yard gong. Other targets are 3 to 5 inch steel circles at various ranges from 200 to 300 yards. Shooting is from field positions, using field gear.

[Linked Image]

This is the P Dog target (on left). Shooters engage the orange dots on the larger P Dog outline. Dots are the size of a quarter. 200 yards.

[Linked Image]

Here's the scrum from the judging area of the Hunter Steel shoot. L to R -- Mark Shubert (back turned), CCCC, DARBY, Talus in AZ (at glass), Oldman03 (blue shirt), someone help here with the name of the guy in camo, and Owl (I think) in the brimmed hat.
