CAS,

You ought to post his telephone number, so that anybody who wants to call and ask him about a rifle can do so. Take a few minutes of his time and make him think that he's got a sale, then tell him that you'd love to buy the rifle, but then you checked him out and Charlie from Cali didn't give him a good referal, so thanks, but no thanks. If he got a dozen or so 15 minute sales calls like that, he'll be begging you to send the rifle back for a refund and to call off your friends.

very good idea ... and worst case, is that we can all just use up a bunch of that jackass's time, making him think he's got some sales working ...

Cas,

I have bought 4 rifles through the years from Gunsamerica but each time I cringe. There's no accountability system like at Gunbroker so I stick with Gunbroker if at all possible. Auction Arms seems to be so small now that I NEVER find what I want there.

You've learned your lesson and it's time to retaliate by letting us help with phone calls or just move on and forget it.

The worst thing you can do is to sit around and stew helplessly about it. It can and WILL hurt your health.

In the "Grand Scheme of Things" it really ain't nuthin' at all... Believe that and you'll live longer and be healthier and happier.

This is the information I got back when I sent an inquiry for one of the items they (he) offered on GA. I figured they just might respond to a question on a $2500 gun.

I'm not stewing over it. I consider it tuition.

Lesson learned, and I will never again buy without either knowing the person or paying with a credit card.

I bought one gun off gunsamerica and it was as advertised, but it was from an FFL dealer whom I talked with over the phone before bidding. Having said that, I don't think I will use gunsamerica any more just because the lack of recourse for scumbag sellers.
I have bought and sold several guns off Gunbroker and only had one problem with the gun not being as advertised. I contacted the seller and he ended up giving me some money back so I was happy. Gunbroker does have a pretty good buyer and seller protection system from everything I have heard, so that's who I stick with.

CAS,

Sorry to hear about this problem. I tried to buy a rifle from this culprit a few months back. At first he responded promptly when I asked for more pictures (2 hours) but then after I said I would take it. He responded with mailing information but no final sales price. He would not respond to e-mails or phone calls for the the final price to send. My FFL had already been in the mail for seven days before he finally called me back with final price. At that time I asked if he had recieved my FFL yet he said he had not. At that time I decided that I would not send payment (it just did'nt feel right). I wrote to him and explained my reasoning for my withdrawl of purchase, stating his lack of response was not up to task on a internet sale and that my FFL should have been there by now. Three days later I recieved a response from this IDIOT that he had recieved my FFL (took 10 days for mail to get to him, wonder how long it would have taken to get my rifle to me) and would be throwing it away and putting my e-mail address on the ignore list. Oh boy that hurt. This guy is a jerk first and foremost. Sorry to hear about your misfortunes.

I better run to the free legal advice thread and find out.

CAS,

Two things - Creeps like selling over the NET because when people meet them in person they pick up on the non-verbals that "hey I'm a crook," so it's just easier for them to deal when people can't see their face and know - guys like this often view the world as a bunch of losers that they don't give a shot about. (I've dealt with one myself).

Second - if this butt hole said he's going to sue you, ask the gunsamerica site for other complaints against him, and forward the threat information to them. You might also want to put up a BBB claim against the Jerk.

Someone should put up a bad dealer list / site so no one buys from a jerk, now that would be a service!

This one worked for me a while back. If you sent the $ to him vis USPS mail and/or he shipped the rifle via USPS then he commited mail fraud. Contact your local Postmaster to file. Let him know what you are doing too - better yet, ask the Postmaster to call him "investigating" the complaint...

Here is the text of the email I sent:

I'm interested in one of your Guns listed on GunsAmerica. I want to make sure that this is a straight up deal first so please forward to me a list of satisfied customers that I can contact to verify you are not a scumbag. Thanks.

Wouldn't it technically be libel since it's in print?
