As I see it right now, privatized prison and big pharma are the two biggest industries to lose should marijuana become legal. The prison population has grown 700% since the 1970s and is an estimated $80 BILLION dollar industry. Pharmaceutical companies raked in close to $100 BILLION.
Want to know what people will do to make sure their wallets are lined and the money train keeps flowing? Everything in their power to keep marijuana a federally illegal drug. It just pays better for them that way.
Sure doesn't make it right though..

I give zero f*#@s about MJ at this point......but in reality, folks don't go to prison for using/possession.

Federal law: Penalties for any amount of MJ(first offense), misdemeanor charge with up to 1 year incarceration and a $1,000 fine.

Says the 9th Circuit made a distinction between a medical cardholder buying a new gun vs. marijuana use being grounds to completely deny their 2nd amendment rights to own firearms. Would you like me to list the last 20 folks I actually arrested for MJ on the roads? Not one of them went to jail, let alone prison. $350, at most, and away they went......

I've seen it happen in FL for a single joint. Seen what happen? Get their parole revoked? Florida can't be that different than Texas. Our Federal threshold for prosecution is a ton. 100 Kilos for cocaine.

There are bigger issues at hand! Saw the Navy put a chief away for twenty for having a little over an ounce. Reduced from W-7 to E-1, twenty years at Leavenworth, then a BCD.
