I put a Nikon Pro Staff 3x9x40mm EFR , AO with the target dot reticle on my Marlin .17 mach2. I will put one on my 1022 as soon as I have the $$$. Love the scope . I was always a Leupold guy till I tried the Nikon . About $180 .

I went from Nikon to Burris 3x9 and feel its a better fit on a rimfire, the Nikons have too much eye releif IMO

Is that the "Dimondback" ?
How are the optcs ?
This is a scope that's on the short list.

Yes, Vortex Optics Diamondback 2-7x35 Rimfire Riflescope with VPlex Reticle (DBK-RIM)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002SCYR70/

The quality is excellent and the wide field of view provides a very nice tracking for moving objects. (squirrels, rabbits, even shot a moving wild turkey with this scope mounted on CZ 512 semi-auto)

I hunt White-tailed Jackrabbits and needed a scope that would give me the best field view. As far as I know, at the low 2x at 35mm, there is not much competition.

Again, there are some cheaper options around, but if you want to see and track "stuff" through your scope, this may be an option for you.

Second question, the base that comes with a 10/22, does it take standard Weaver style rings, or the smaller 7/8" .22 rings ?

It takes both. I'd go Weaver style.

The ProStaff Rimfire II is about $120.00.

The regular ProStaff for centerfire applications is usually around $169.00.

Those little 4X's are about as good as it gets and I have one on my Magnum Research but the OP wanted more X's.

I went Nikon Pro-Staff 4X for my youngest son's rifle. Didn't see the need for more X for him though the Weaver 2-7X is a nice piece.

Agreed.....the durability of fixed scopes doesn't hurt with the Weaver or FX 1....

Way back in the olden days when the 10/22 was $85 my dad put Leupold Vari-X 1.5-5s on them, fed them Stingers and we shot the heck outa stuff, paralex be dammed... I'd suggest someone go that way, or a 2-7.

My bright pink Hogue-stocked 10/22 wears a 4x32 Hawke rimfire scope with mil-dot reticle that go for around $60. I have one AO and one non-AO. The best of best of Chinascopes. No Nikon, fug Nikon.

I prefer that a scope's physical size is in sync with the size of the firearm upon which it is mounted, sort of a feng shui for firearms thing.

I have a few 10/22s around and those that have scopes on them, have these scopes:

1. 10/22 KRBIBBZ - Weaver Rv7, 2-7x28
2. 10/22 K10/22-22 - Leupold Rifleman 4-12x40
3. 10/22 CRRPBZ - Redfield Tracker 2-7x32
4. 10/22 KRBIBBZ rebarreled to 17HM2 - Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40

Nice list of rimfire scopes ... perhaps you can comment on those scopes? Cons/Pros? Which one do you like the most etc?

Two scopes that have caught my attention are;

Nikon Pro-Staff @ $100 to $150
and
Burris FF 2 @ $150 +

Any thoughts ?

On the cheap end, the Simmons 22 mag 4X is a pretty decent rimfire scope. I had one on a Ruger 77/22 magnum 20-ish years ago. The ground squirrels did not approve.

On the better end, a Leupold 2-7X RF special is a really sweet scope. Sounds just above your budget?

Midway has the 4X RF Leupold on sale for $199.99 and free shipping right now if a matte finish suits you.

Weaver makes a 2-7X RF scope I think. I haven't owned one but I've been tempted.

If you can swing it, I think it's worth spending a few extra bucks to buy Talley ring-mounts for the 10/22 rather than use the base that comes with it. It works, but the Talleys are sweet.

I have a 4x Burris Mini on mine, it works very well. It is not important but it also, to me, looks right.
