Don't they think it odd that the same folks who were pro-Soviet Union are today anti-Russian? The reason they loved Russia then was that they were fellow travelers. Today, in post communism Russia, these folks consider Russia to be a hated enemy. It's Russia's abandonment of international communism that drives the hate among the American left in both parties.

Truth be told Russia is probably a damn sight closer to the West in ideology than most of Western Europe...and all of the East.

You figured it out. The Dems need the entire server/email chains/leaks/electronic trail to become a highly-debatable high-security high-stakes investigation.

And everybody seems to have forgotten that FBI warned that russians had hacked into Illinois and Arizona election system back in July/August. (and thats just what is public know )
Arizona shut down one of its system for a week after that.

Liberals really are stupid. You can't hold Russia to our laws, because our laws are ours, not theirs. You can hold individuals in this country to our laws, unless they have diplomatic immunity, which any hackers, if they were actually on US soil, no doubt had. I'm quite sure Russia makes sure any of their agents hold diplomat status.
Secondly, if they just influenced the election, how is that illegal? As was mentioned, other countries and entities such as the UN, try to influence our elections all the time.
The illegality could come in if there were instances of tampering with the results. Democrats have done this for years, so even if illegal, how is it big news? It is pretty much accepted that JFK did not win the 1960 Presidential race, Nixon did. Again, a Democrat.

Exactly. Assuming the Russians had anything to do with the leaks (not likely at all), their involvement was to uncover deep corruption, making said information available to the voter, i.e., they did us a service.
