I'm on nights all weekend. Had our presents opened tonight by 1630 and am eating out of a box tonight. Will roast prime rib tomorrow night on the grill here at work. Missing the family a bunch, but somebody's got to keep the lights on.

My wife is a nurse, so she'll pull a 6-2 tomorrow. That really means she'll pull a 6-4. Fear not, I'll have a nice rack of lamb and fixin's on hand when she gets home, probably with a moderately decent Pinot.

It's not like she works in a supermarket or convenience store, that MUST stay open for people that can't plan ahead for a whole f'in day.

I spent a lot of years working for a telephone co and working holidays was something we all did.

It has been a long time since I've done it, but I always think of those that have service jobs that require them to be away from home and family on the holidays and appreciate what they do.

That doesn't even begin to express how much I feel we owe the men and women in military and the sacrifice they willingly make each day. Just can't thank them enough.

Just another day of the same work for me. Except a lot more of it. One of the reasons we look forward to the holidays is because it's the busiest time of the year. Sometimes when I get depressed because of it, I think of all these people who can get away without having to worry about the dog(s)

Where i work ( Water Treatment Plant for the state of Va ) it's 24/7/365 coverage . I have enough seniority I could have taken off , but all the others here have kids also . Work today and then off for another 11 days including one more hunting trip so it's not all bad.

Spent 15 years as an EMT. Been there, done that. A hearty "THANK YOU" to all the folks working today to keep the rest of us dead beats safe and comfortable.

Not working, but I am 6000 miles away. It sucks, but only the 2nd time I have had to do so in the 8 years I've been married. I will get on the FaceTime video chat when they wake up...that does make it a bit easier.

I don't even have a job at the moment, but in my younger years, l use to pray l would get a chance to work the holidays and collect the overtime pay. That kind of ended when I sent my first wife on down the road. She always felt that if the credit cards weren't max out by Christmas, we were saving to much.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost....
