I have a 1949 M94 that shoots about 2" high at 25yds. with the rear(original iron sight) all the way down. The front sight blade mikes out to .281. Does anyone know what the correct height should be? The rifle is all original (except maybe for the sight blade?)and is in about 96-97% condition. Possibly the former owner changed it. I am getting the bead down in the LITTLE notch like I should when I shoot. I have had a pile of other M94's and never experienced this before.

Error X sight radius / distance (all measurements in inches) will give you the increase you need.
It looks like a .320" would get you very close, with the rear sight setting as it is.
I would be inclined to shoot the rifle at a further distances, at least 50 yards, to a better idea of what you need. As it is, it looks like one of the .343" versions would get your rear sight more towards the middle of its' range of adjustment.
A low point of impact can be dealt with by filing a front sight that is too tall.

Same problem here. I measured an original for 1936 , Win 94 and it is .261. Which I know it is original as it was my fathers gun and he never touched it. Of course that would make yours shoot higher yet.
I have a .310 on it now and it seems about right.
The sights themselves are fairly inexpensive.Since you pay shipping and it's about the same for 1,2,or 3, order at least two. Put the smallest on first, if not happy go to the next height.

Looks like I'll order the .310 and .343 heights. Thanks again.

Just guessing here, but I"d say a lot of the shorter sights on older guns were there because of the anemic 30-30 loads from mfgr's.
I know mine shoots the old loads from the 50's that my father bought and I us ed growing up fairly well, but all my reloads were high, hence the reason I put on taller front sights. These reloads were not close to max either

The sight you had on there is about the right to be the original sight. Keep it, but put on something you can shoot with.
