R.I.P. Bob and condolences to his family.

Well this just plain sucks. Totally wasn't prepared for this news. We traded so many PM's.

The knowledge pool of real world experience took a major hit. He will be missed.

Skane and Bob(R) planning an afternoon hunt...or maybe just discussing the advantages/disadvantages of the 6.5Creedmore vs. the 270Win. Or possibly deciding if they should use Nosler Partitions or Bitterroots later that afternoon.

340 - If you Search - Deer Hunting Forum
2015 Kansas Adventure -(corrected title)
SKane

It's a long, very good thread with pics of Bob - SKane & Paul.

OR

In any BobinNH thread, toggle his name and click on View Posts - you can find that thread.

IMO the first option will be quicker.

LOL. Bob had all the top-of-the-line wool stuff too.
Contrary to what many think, he was open to trying to new stuff; but, man, it had better be far superior to what he found to already work or it is was quickly moved along.

Paying deep respect to BobinNH once again this morning.

Thank you Bobin!!!

I see a pre 64 9 twist 270 custom this year. This is one direction Bobin greatly inspired me as I'm certain this man inspired many. Bobin will continue to be an inspiration with the invaluable contribution he built that cannot be removed.

Kinda feels a lot like a legend! grin
Long live your inspiration Bobin!

Trystan

The groups Kansas deer hunt was an enjoyable read. Bob's common sense insight into hunting cartridges will be missed.

Just ain't fair....

Hate to hear this.

Always respected his knowledge and input here. Enjoyed speaking with him on the phone about various subjects; even unrelated to shooting or hunting.

Rest easy.

Wool is one of things I PMed with Bob about, I believe he's in an LL bean Maine Guides shirt in the pic I posted.

For sure Scott.. Hence his 6.5 CM.. He built that sucker right. I remember BS'ing with him while we both happened to be on the range (different ranges) and he said "My God Scotty, this thing drops alot more than my 270's do at 300 yards"... We both kinda cracked up, but he gave most everything a fair shake. He had went thru ALOT of rifles in his life time.. I hope to hit 1/2 as many by the time I am his age! Heck, he even tried turrets.. That is a whole nother story for a real campfire someday.

Just another thought, pretty generous guy too. I had recently divorced and was recovering from that fiasco and lost my bins in the process. I had just picked up a screaming deal on a M70 Featherweight 6.5x55.. He asked me if I wanted to sell it and I said, not really, but I need a pair of bins for Wyoming. He said, keep the rifle, I'll send you the money for the bins.. I ended up getting a pair from another buddy to use for the Fall, but I'll never forget how he offered.. First class all the way.

I don't post a lot, but I spend a lot of time here reading. I always took note when he made a comment on a topic I was interested in.
