My dear friend Bob died early this morning. He was surrounded by his family. He had been ill for some time.
I am broken hearted.

Extremely sad news. He will be missed.
A 270 will be fired today in his honor.
Godspeed Bob. Didn't know him well but we exchanged a number of PM's and always enjoyed what he shared in those PM's.
Godspeed Bob, you will be missed. Your family will be in our prayers.
He was one of the good ones here. Happy hunting in the next life Bob.
Wow. I'm so sad to hear this.
He will be missed.RIP Bob,May God Bless You.

I really liked that Dude.
I always enjoyed Bob's wisdom. He brought sound judgement to many threads. He will be missed. RIP.
I always enjoyed Bob's wisdom. He brought sound judgement to many threads. He will be missed. RIP.
Indeed. Very sorry to hear of his passing. He was one of the good guys.
Really sad news. I only "knew" Bob from this forum and regret never having shared a camp with him. He welcomed me here and we corresponded with PM's many times. His wisdom will be missed.
He had great intelligence, experience and wisdom and we are lesser without him. I wished I had met him. I always thought about going to Amoskeag Auction and visiting him.
I chatted with Bob on a few occasions and found him very helpful and willing to share his knowledge and experiences. I will miss him, my condolences to his family and close friends. RIP, we are all richer for knowing him.
he will be missed, prayer sent.
Ed
I loved reading what Bob had to say. Exchanged PMs with him a good bit. Great guy. I will miss him.
That is a great sadness. There is less than a handful of people on here that I respected more.
I wish peace upon his friends and family.
Oh no....I always loved chatting with him and picking his brain...please post an obit if you can.
Prayers for his family.
My prayers go out to family. RIP, Bob.
OMG, Bob was a gem. The fire will not be the same.. So sorry to hear this!!!
Godspeed my friend.
Very sad. I will miss our correspondence. God speed Bob.
One of the best. Godspeed good Sir.

I enjoyed my conversations with him. Prayers sent for Bob, his friends and his family.
Condolences, and prayers sent for Bob, his friends and his family.
Very sad to hear. My condolences to his family.
I always made it a point to read Bob's posts here on the campfire.

I am stunned, Bob was one of the good guys and was a huge asset to all of us here at the campfire.
Wont be the same without him.
Prayers for Bob and his family.
I enjoyed reading his posts and learned a lot from them. He will be missed.

My prayers go out to his family.
I didn't know he was sick, but the last couple weeks I sensed a change in his posts.
Damn.
Bob was very gracious with his knowledge and his time.
He sent me dummy rounds when I was putting together a Mashburn, answered a ton of questions.
RIP Bob, the fire has been diminished by your loss.
Very sorry to hear...Good man.
My dear friend Bob died early this morning. He was surrounded by his family. He had been ill for some time.
I am broken hearted.
Sad News. I will miss him.
His post were always informative, well formed, and based on actual experience.
His dedication to the .270 Win, and the 7mm Mashburn Super Magnum were almost paradoxical, yet he was steadfast.
We are all the poorer for his passing.
I will especially miss his honest insights.
RIP Bob
Wow I am so sorry to hear this I thoroughly enjoyed his posts so sad for the world to have lost such a good guy.
RIP Bob.
He just posted yesterday morning! Godspeed, Bob. The Campfire is a lesser place with your loss.
RIP Sir. I never had the pleasure of speaking with him, but his posts were always enjoyable and authoritative. Prayers sent for his friends and family, in this difficult time.
RIP buddy!
Bob was always willing to burn up an hour talking about bullets, the Mashburn and anything related to hunting or good danged rifles. I built my 1st and now 2nd Mashburn according to his blueprint and he supplied me with my first BBC's to "try" out.. Dang fella hooked me!
Prayers to your family buddy and I know your in Vahalla taking it to the big elk and deer up there! Scotty
Here is a shot of Bob on a small hill in CT this past Fall. Our buddy Matt drug him out for a little hunting. Pretty sure that is one of his beautiful P64 30-06's.. He sent me the picture of the group shooting 180 Federals for deer hunting.. I'll just say the ol boy kept them tight all the way to the end!
Here he was checking it out on the 300 yard range..
He still gunned them with the best of em! Hopefully Heaven is full of good P64's and Partitions... He'll do well on the otherside.
May the road rise to meet you shooter.
X 3! ! ! can't believe it. I never met him but we talked quite a bit--hard to believe that we both liked 270s and 7 Mags huh ?
I knew he HAD taken treatments but hadn't mentioned digression.
I'm so sad.... as jorge said,"the Campfire is a lesser place" and WE are diminished...
Groundhog day will always be a sad day for me.
Prayers for the FAMILY.
Jerry
ps: I have several of his pics in my photo album--760, 280 carbine and bucks from '2015. Treasures.
God speed for the first guy that gave me a helping hand when I showed up here.
Gary
God speed for the first guy that gave me a helping hand when I showed up here.
Gary
Same here, RIP sir.
This saddens me deeply. We never met but conversed a lot via PM and email. I wish I had met him in person.
Sad deal.
Another good guy gone.
I didn't always agree with everything he posted, but always respected the man.
WHAT!
R.I.P. Bob,I will miss your humor and knowledge here on the Campfire.
Really sorry to hear this. I've read and enjoyed his posts for a long time. Prayers for his family and friends.
I am saddened by this news. My condolences to his family. CP.
My condolences to all you who knew him. I respected his point of view and found his posts as practical and well informed.
R.I.P. Bob.
RIP Bob, always enjoyed his posts here. Prayers to his family.
I am also shocked and saddened at this as I enjoyed our conversations per PM and one fairly long phone call. He was a congenial man and very knowledgeable regarding all things "rifle."
Wow!
I'm stunned, shocked. I knew he had health issues, wasn't ready for this.
Bob was eloquent, a real word smith. Maybe something to do with his legal training, probably just natural talent.
I always respected his opinions and experience.
We lost a great one.
Rest In Peace, brother.
DF
Sorry to read this. RIP Bob
So very sorry to hear this. I got to share a Kansas hunt with him just last year. RIP Bob.
Rock on Bob......
7/08? Yawn
Give me a 270 or 280.
Just another target round designed to knock over silhouette rams. The whole short action business is "who cares"?
Very sad to learn of Bob's passing. I always enjoyed his posts.
From now on whenever I pick up a 270 or a 7MM Magnum, I will remember BobinNH.
I am stunned and heart broken to see this news of Bob.
One of my most favorite people here and I am at a loss.
It won't be the same here................
Bob, I will miss you!
Your knowledge of hunting and firearms will remain with me/us.
Do you know if his obituary is, or is going to be, in the Manchester Union Leader?
If so, the MUL has a guest book option where you can leave messages and offer condolences to the family.
Wow. RIP friend Bob.
I always enjoyed our conversations. He will be missed.
So sorry to hear of this.
Always looked forward to Bob "waxing eloquently" about pre-64 model 70s, 270 wins and 7mm Mashburn Super Magnums.
He will be missed here.
RIP BobinNH.....
I've not met anyone from this forum given my locale. There's a lot I would like to meet though, and Bob was top of the list.
What a shame.
How old was Bob?
I am pretty sure he was 67.
I'll ask about the obit 260.
It's sad that there's no rhyme or reason as to why the worst don't go first.
RIP Bob.
Bob and Whelen Nut two years ago in KS.
Great pictures Scott.
That was a great hunt story you all told and a helluva good buck he took..
Sad, words can not express--Bob
I am so sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family. He was a great guy, I always enjoyed reading his well spoken informative posts. He was an asset to this board and will be missed.
Damn. So Sorry... What a loss. He was certainly one of my favorite reads. Could always count on a bit of ire and lots of knowledge from experience.
The funny coming through in a an Archie Bunker meets Mule Deer kinda way.... Dammit'...
Regards and prayers to family.

Here's Bob's last post from yesterday morning... consistent to the end!
I responded letting him know I thought he was too young to be a curmudgeon. I hope he saw that.
I'll miss him. He was too young to go...
My regards to you RinB and to Bobins friends and family.
I very much enjoyed reading from Bobins experiences and will continue to read much of what BobinNH has penned down on this forum as I often spend time researching old threads.
Thank you BobinNH for an immeasurable contribution
Trystan
Didn't know him, but would have liked to have had the opportunity. Had a few infrequent PM chats.
Intelligent, obvious love of family and Grandkids, good with words and had a hunters heart.
The Winchester and Deer forums will not be the same for awhile.
Wow. R.I.P. and condolences to his friends and family.
Damn! Loved his wit and wisdom. RIP

Brad,
I sent Bob a text last night. I think he'll be proud.
Damn. Sad to hear this. He was a gentleman. Our loss. Prayers to his family.
Damn.
Very sad news.
Bob was a good guy and we'll miss him around here.
I'm sure he'll enjoy his time up in the happy hunting grounds.
RIP
Shocked and deeply saddened. He was always helpful to me and always nice to me.
Always enjoyed reading his posts. Saddened to hear that he has passed. May the good Lord bless and keep him and give comfort to his family.
I never met Bob but from his posts here, I always thought that he was one of the best of the best.
We will all be diminished by his absence.
God bless and keep you Bob.
Steve

Rest in peace Bob.
Scott, that's great stuff. I'm sure it gave Bob a smile.
I posted this Mashburn buck for Bob before he started posting pics.
From 2010
Rest in peace Bob. Your one of the good guys.
Shot his nose off? My elk hunting buddy did the same thing. I'm going to really miss his friendship , wit, and kind assistance to me along the way. One of a kind on the Campfire. So thankful he's not suffering any more.
I am so sorry to hear this news. I had many fine pm conversations with Bob. Definitely one of the good guys. He will be sorely missed.
Prayers on the way for all his family and friends.
Geez I'm going to miss you Bob, just thinking last night about the call back I owed you..... one of the good guys for sure.
Thanks for the pictures gents, keep them coming.
RIP my friend....
RIP.
Condolences to the family and friends.
Great guy: I talked to him one time and came away wishing I could have hunted with him. Elk in the snow
RIP Bob
Wow, this news is shocking and very sad to hear. Prayers sent
Rest in Peace Bob. I enjoyed his many contributions here.
Sad news, he will be missed. Prayers sent for family and friends.
Good fellow.
Sad news.
I wish for comfort for his family.
Sad to hear this. Thoughts with his family.
In a prior post today about what bullets you use, I mentioned a .30-06 and that I may use a partition. Have never killed a single Deer with a partition, but when I wrote it I wondered if it would get a rise from Bob. Well, now we know the answer to that.
I'm sure there will be more than once when I hunt with a Model 70 that BobinNH will be remembered. So, if there is another Deer season, a partition it will be.
My dear friend Bob died early this morning. He was surrounded by his family. He had been ill for some time.
I am broken hearted.
He was very kind and helpful. Just recently, he gave me motivation to resurrect a Featherweight I had collecting dust.
M70 Featherweight That rifle will take on new meaning. He will be missed.
Wow, don't know what to say. He was a true gentleman and will be missed for sure. From the pictures posted here and his posts here it sounded like he lived a great life. 67 is too young though. Godspeed Bob.
Godspeed my friend.
Y'all were Kansas hunting partners right? Sorry to hear about the loss of a friend (in person or cyber) to so many campfire members.
Stunned .
Wow first thread at the top of the page - I thought uww there we go it's BobinNH -sure wasn't expecting this .
Rest in peace Bob I always thought of you as a "Rifleman's rifleman" ..
Godspeed Bob!
I'm going to really going to miss his post and wisdom.
I am shocked. Exchanged many PMs with Bob cussing discussing M70 and bullets. I'm going to miss him. RIP.
One of the first guys I messaged for some advice. Great guy! I really appreciate those of you that have posted pics.
I will miss your contributions Bob.
Thoughts and prayers to your family.
-Sean
RIP Bob. Prayers for family. Thanks for all the pics.
I am pretty sure he was 67.
I'll ask about the obit 260.
I though that if the obituary is in the Union Leader, any 24HCF member who wanted to leave a note of condolence could easily do so using the guest book feature.
RIP Bob
I will miss his posts!
Bob, I rest assured you're cussing and discussing the 7 Mags and the .270 with Art M, Warren P, Les B, Mike W, Fred H, Roy W, Jack O'C...and Elmer penning the dissent!
Hoisting a '15 George T Stagg to you...from the modern St Hubert, Patron Saint of Hunters prayers:
By the intercession of St. Hubert, patron saint of hunters, may you always honor God the Creator, who set man in dominion over all the animals.
May the Lord God make you an honorable hunter who respects fellow hunters, the animals, and all creation;
May He keep safe you and all who share the field or the forest;
May He make all hunters proud of their kill, generous with their meat, and thankful in all circumstances.
May God bless you: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Damn. Condolences to Bobs family and friends, and Godspeed to you, BobinNH.
I always enjoyed Bob. Enjoyed tweaking him about 280's and AI's.
Very sad news. He will be missed. Prayers for the family.
Wow. Always enjoyed reading what Bob had to say. Immense wizdom and practical experience; felt like I knew him just from his writing. Campfire has lost a sage. Condolences to his friends here and all his family...

Wow! I always enjoyed his posts and appreciated his insights from exchanging a few PM's. He will truly be missed and one of the good ones on the campfire for sure. A sad day!
RIP Bob. My heartfelt condolences to his family!
Sorry to hear this, he was a good man.
Terrible news. Great guy to have at the campfire. Prayers to comfort his family and friends.
RIP, sir. Prayers lifted for the family...
Bob has passed?! Son of a BITCH. I liked Bob a lot. Aargh.
One more dead guy in my phone contacts list. This getting old business hurts.
RIP friend Bob, and may heaven hold a P64 M70 Mashburn for you.
I cannot believe it. We conversed just the other day on a gun matter, and last night my son and I were talking about a trigger job on a M70 .270 and as we were talking I was thinking about Bob....
He had always had time to answer questions for anyone who asked...
RIP my Friend
He will truly be missed. I valued his expertise and looked to his wisdom on more than a few occasions. Bob was one of the good guys here. Prayers sent to his family and friends. The fire will not be the same without him...
RIP Bob. Always appreciated your posts.
Good gosh, I didn't even know Bob was sick - he'd been around here at the Campfire posting good stuff for a long, long time. Rest in peace Bob.
That is sad news! I always enjoyed reading what he had to say. Condolences and prayer to the family.
Condolences to his family and to those of you here fortunate enough to have known him and called him Friend.
His posts and replies always seemed well thought out, and perhaps more important, reasonable.
A sad day here on top of a death in our family this afternoon too.
The price we pay for getting old.
Geno
R.I.P. Bob.
A guy better hunt while he can.
Dink
Sad news indeed.
I'll miss him and his posts. They always made good sense.
Prayers sent.
I only knew him through all of his posts and a few pm's exchanged back & forth here, but it was easy to see he was one of the best all the way. RIP, Bob. Prayers to all of the friends and family.
He was quite a guy. He was an unusual guy in that he didn't much waver in what he liked and pursued in the way of hunting and shooting.
And always a classy guy. An old school type of guy. Many of us could stand to be a little more like him.
Sorry to hear this sad news..........praying for the family!
R.I.P. and prayers for his family.
Damn, I don't know what to say. Condolences to his family.
RinB;
Thanks for sharing this sad news with us.
I enjoyed a few PM's back and forth with Bob over the years and always appreciated his candor and his willingness to share what he knew. I'll miss that for sure.
My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family left behind.
Dwayne
I'm sorry to hear this. God speed to you Bob. He was truly one of the greats. Long live the 7mm Rem Mag!
I didn't even know he was ill. He always had great information, he'll be missed here. Prayers for his family.
I did not know BobinNH personally yet tonight I'm drinking a Stella Artois Belgium with a slice of lemon in memory of all Bobin brought to the fire.
Tonight I dream of a pre 64 M70 winchester chambered in 270 with a custom 9 twist barrel.
Here's to BobinNH
Trystan
BobinNH. Didn't know him personally but always found him to be worth a listen. RIP
Wow. Sad news, indeed.
One of the best guys on the forum. Of course he'll be missed around here, but my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.
Bob was a good man. He loved Winchesters too. Godspeed and farewell in heaven.
Sorry to hear about this. I always enjoyed Bob's comments and input. He'll be missed here for sure.
Sorry to here that. He's been one of my favorites here.
A great loss to the campfire. He was always knowledgeable and respectable. Godspeed.
Godspeed, and RIP Bob.
The 'fire won't be the same.
May the family find peace, this is a surprise, very knowledgeable guy with class, our philosophies paralleled often on elk hunting and such. Adios fellow outdoorsman.
Kent
You will be missed Bob
You left too young
That's just terrible news. I always liked Bob. Lots of knowledge. I usually offer condolences to the family in threads like this, although today I kind of feel like I belong in the "grieving" group.
Gone but not forgotten. I'm sure we'll be re-reading his posts for years as new 'fire members dig up old threads on immortal topics.

Bob had a lot of friends here. It's alright to grieve during this great loss. Him and I used to text back and forth, plus thousands of PM's. I know I, and many here, lost a good friend today. He will be missed!
Always always enjoyed his knowledge. RIP Bob
Enjoyed his posts and will miss his wisdom.
RIP Bob. You will be missed.
Geo
It was largely Bob's posts (and a couple other members') that inspired me to build a 7mm Mashburn. The way that Bob was posting here up until yesterday, I never would have guessed that his health was ailing.
RIP Bob. Like Allen Day, your contribution here was immense.
So sorry to hear this sad news.
R.I.P. Bob.
Make the most of each day. Life is short.
I read this yesterday and didn't know what to say, still don't really. I knew Bob a little bit, having met him a few years back. We seemed to run the gun shop/gun show loop around here and I'd run into him here and there. And like others, we had exchanged phone calls and texts over the years. He was always the man in person he appeared to be here at the fire. I'm going to miss our conversations and reading your posts Bob. RIP friend.
Sorry to hear this. Prayers for his family.
Shocked to hear this news. Like so many members here I also called him friend. We talked of bass fishing and 7mms often. He shall be missed.
Condolences to all his friends and family. RIP Bob.
Very sorry to hear this, we miss you already Bob.
Sad news... Bob will be missed for sure. Prayers sent.
Sorry to hear this...Another Campfire Member gone to the big campfire in the sky....
was just exchanging PMs with him 3 weeks ago or so....
condolences and blessings to his family at this difficult time...
Go with God Bob!
Very sorry about this. He was a great asset to the forum. Always enjoyed reading his posts. RIP Bob
Always enjoyed reading his posts, he was a bright spot in a lot of the nonsense on here. May the good Lord bless and keep him and give comfort to his family.
A true gentleman who enjoyed his hunting and fishing and sharing time with is family and friends. He will be missed by all.
Always enjoyed reading his posts, he was a bright spot in a lot of the nonsense on here. May the good Lord bless and keep him and give comfort to his family.
Well said! ....... I liked Bob's humour.
Bob always insisted on a mid-day nap while hunting. RIP buddy!
A bright spot in the day.
Jerry
A bright spot in the day.

Yes indeed. I never met Bob, but always enjoyed his posts and exchanged PM's with him a time or two. I have never seen any pics of him until now-thank you, everyone that posted photos!
Wasn't expecting this when I clicked...
R.I.P. Bob and condolences to his family.
Well this just plain sucks. Totally wasn't prepared for this news. We traded so many PM's.
The knowledge pool of real world experience took a major hit. He will be missed.
Skane and Bob(R) planning an afternoon hunt...or maybe just discussing the advantages/disadvantages of the 6.5Creedmore vs. the 270Win. Or possibly deciding if they should use Nosler Partitions or Bitterroots later that afternoon.
Traditional Bob, styling the Sitka gear. Who woulda thunk.
Great picture. Love that 270 he put together.

LOL. Bob had all the top-of-the-line wool stuff too.
Contrary to what many think, he was open to trying to new stuff; but, man, it had better be far superior to what he found to already work or it is was quickly moved along.
Paying deep respect to BobinNH once again this morning.
Thank you Bobin!!!
I see a pre 64 9 twist 270 custom this year. This is one direction Bobin greatly inspired me as I'm certain this man inspired many. Bobin will continue to be an inspiration with the invaluable contribution he built that cannot be removed.
Kinda feels a lot like a legend!
Long live your inspiration Bobin!
Trystan
The groups Kansas deer hunt was an enjoyable read. Bob's common sense insight into hunting cartridges will be missed.
Just ain't fair....
Doc
Very sad. Always seemed like a class act. Rest in peace sir.

Hate to hear this.
Always respected his knowledge and input here. Enjoyed speaking with him on the phone about various subjects; even unrelated to shooting or hunting.
Rest easy.

Wool is one of things I PMed with Bob about, I believe he's in an LL bean Maine Guides shirt in the pic I posted.

For sure Scott.. Hence his 6.5 CM.. He built that sucker right. I remember BS'ing with him while we both happened to be on the range (different ranges) and he said "My God Scotty, this thing drops alot more than my 270's do at 300 yards"... We both kinda cracked up, but he gave most everything a fair shake. He had went thru ALOT of rifles in his life time.. I hope to hit 1/2 as many by the time I am his age! Heck, he even tried turrets.. That is a whole nother story for a real campfire someday.
Just another thought, pretty generous guy too. I had recently divorced and was recovering from that fiasco and lost my bins in the process. I had just picked up a screaming deal on a M70 Featherweight 6.5x55.. He asked me if I wanted to sell it and I said, not really, but I need a pair of bins for Wyoming. He said, keep the rifle, I'll send you the money for the bins.. I ended up getting a pair from another buddy to use for the Fall, but I'll never forget how he offered.. First class all the way.
A great loss to the campfire. He was always knowledgeable and respectable. Godspeed.
Ditto
I always appreciated his insight on various topics.
RIP
I don't post a lot, but I spend a lot of time here reading. I always took note when he made a comment on a topic I was interested in.
I talked to him once. Very nice man. I knew he had health issues, sorry to hear this. Intelligent, thoughtful, a true gentleman. RIP

Sad, very sad..
Rest in Peace Bob.
At the risk of being indelicate, what was the illness?
Jorge, Bob had a cancer and had been through Chemo.
I always tried to read his posts. The man had a way with words. My condolences to his family and prayers sent.
Jorge, Bob had a cancer and had been through Chemo.
I thought that when it was mentioned "he'd been ill for a time." Would anybody care to share a bit more specifically what his battle was? I received a couple of pictures from him with his grandson this past summer and he looked tan and fit. They were from a bass fishing foray on that Maine lake he frequented.
Boy, this makes me feel such a loss.
Jorge, Bob had a cancer and had been through Chemo.
Did not know this either, he always looked good in his pics..
No one deserves that....

I had no idea he was sick, it was a big surprise to find out he had passed on.
Godspeed, Bob. Thoughts and prayers for those he left behind. His presence will be missed here - "No man is an island ..."
This is terrible news. Prayers for his family. I enjoyed his posts and will miss him.
Casey
RIP Bob, I would have liked to have met you in person.
Damn. Gonna miss his presence.
I will miss his posts and the occasional exchange of PMs. I was privileged to meet him and spend some time with him in Austin several years ago. We had a looong coffee and talked guns and hunting.
The next day we met Karnis out at Cabelas in Buda for some more good conversation, and I got to meet his wife and son, as well. He was an old school gentleman who was anything but old school on guns and hunting.
We will all miss him--a lot.
My condolences to his family and friends.
We are diminished. Godspeed Sir.
My deepest condolences to Bob's family and friends.
This news rocked me. My deepest and most sincere condolences to his family.
Wasn't long ago he and I were exchanging fishing pictures of/with our grandsons and exchanged PM's about reels and line. Had no idea that he was not well.
We'll miss you Bob.
He'll be missed. He always answered my PMs in a knowledgeable and friendly manner. Time for the rest of us to pick up the torch.
I only just found out of his passing. When I think of him I think "civility". There is so much to be learned about reasoned discourse from his postings. He was much too young to have left us and his family.
Jim
I will miss Bob for sure. I hope the ol boy is putting rounds down range as I type this. Prayers for his family from N.C.
May he Rest In Peace and God Bless his family.

May God bless his family...Eddie
My dear friend Bob died early this morning. He was surrounded by his family. He had been ill for some time.
I am broken hearted.
He was a good friend and always had time for a talk. My prayers are with his family. RIP Bob.
A big loss for the fire. He will be missed by many. Often I would open a thread when I saw he posted on it. Prayers to the family. RIP....
RIP
We will all miss his knowledge and support for our shooting projects. I too went to his post for the best information on the subject I was reading about. Prayers to his family.
May the Divine Spirit bless him and his family. I will miss his posts.
RIP Bob...He will be missed
In the old Precision Shooting, Dave Brennan used the term "We are diminished." Seems appropriate here.
We lost a good man and friend. RIP Bob.
I'm glad to share a couple of pix that Bob sent me - before he posted pics. I posted these for him in a Deer hunting thread but I can't remember which one. He sent them in 2015 (?). I believe it was before his hunt with Skane (Scott) & Whelen Nut (Paul) in Kansas.
Regardless these were killed in Maine 2014 OR 2015. I remember him saying he did not see a thing on his last hunt in Maine.
The first one shows 5 TOADS they had killed.
The second shows Bob (C) in the back of a truck. UNLESS I'm mistaken he killed the buck he was reaching toward. The pic turned out larger here than in my ph album. I'm glad.
Here's Bob as a younger man...
Nice buck.. That boy went crazy over big muleys and WT's..

Damn right! He loved big mule deer!
Awesome pics guys. Along with his excellent writings, we have some cool pics to help remember Bob... He was a hell of a good guy.
I always liked Bob from the first day he showed up on our Forum. We shared a few PMs but never got to meet him.
I don't recall any disagreements with him as I was usually in agreement with what he had to write about experimenting with various calibers, and whitetail and muley hunting, possibly because of our similar age. I'm remembering telling him I liked and used the .270 and knew it was all the rifle I needed, but it was more exciting shooting 7 mags, he said "I know".
When it is my turn to pass I hope I can do it like him, keeping his capabilities up to the end rather than laying around having strokes or dimensia for years. Way to go Bob! You and yours are in my prayers and thanks for sharing with the forum.
Would someone please post a link to his obit...
DF
I've been on the hunt for the obit and it just got added.

Bob lived in Medford, MA, not in NH?
Gotta be a story there.
Would like info about his education, career, etc. Obit sorta sketchy on personal details.

Scott,
Thank you for posting Bob's Obit. Much appreciated.
Rob
Here's Bob as a younger man...
Who says tailgate kill shots aren't cool? Bob made it cool. Love the pic.
I don't post on here a great deal. I mostly stop by on my phone, find a topic of interest and read for a few minutes when I have a little time to kill. Reading on my phone has created an interesting pattern for me. I enlarge the posts and it usually cuts off the poster information on the left of the screen. More times than I can tell you I have read something particularly insightful and scrolled left to see who made the post and saw "BobinNH".
I never had the pleasure of meeting or even conversing with Bob but I can certainly say that I will miss him. This site will miss him.
RIP Bob. I hope there are deer up there and I hope you are chasing them!
RIP BobinNH we will all miss your sage advice.
I love how he managed to get in one more diss of short actions on his way out. Well played, sir! Well played.

Yep.
That was "Bob cool", made his point with class and wit...

He moved to NH for awhile trying to get away from the city but being a lawyer it drew him back in eventually. At least that is what he told me.
Damn.
My deepest condolences to Bob's family and friends.
I traded texts with him last Sunday and tried to call him a couple times since but he didn't pick up.
Bob told me he was ill shortly after he was diagnosed with cancer. He had a tough fight. I hope he's in fine game country now.
I'll miss visiting with him.
Rest easy, Bob.

Maybe his handle, BobinNH, revealed where his heart was, not so much where he slept every night.

I think Bob's heart was really in the west. That's what I gathered from our pm's. He said he would never move away from his family though.

He and I used to talk about hunting the west, the east and anywhere in between. He said back when he was younger 2 or 3 trips out west a year weren't uncommon. He was a big bull or buck maven and strived to hunt them.
I loved seeing his 600 yard range time. While 600 is now considered short range by a lot of folks his rifles and gear were always ready. The old boy could press a trigger with the best of them.

I can understand family and career having ties on our free will to go do what we'd like to do.
At least he got in on some good hunts somewhat west of MA.
I'm glad he got to hunt KS WT's with Skane and Whelen Nut. That was great, I enjoyed the thread. Looked like all were having a great time. I guess it was his last hunt, although not sure about that.
DF
Bummer.
Bob was a hell of a good guy. I exchanged PMs with him a couple times.
Like others, I sensed some oddness with his posts the last few weeks, but didn't think anything of it. Looking back, it should have been a red flag.
RIP Bob.

Yeah, he was a getting a bit edgy compared to his usual smooth style.
I'm sure he felt really bad, probably struggled to get his messages out.
It's amazing how he kept posting right to the end, evidently not one to give up the fight easily.

Guys the photos were great.. Bob often hunted north of my place, and with friends I knew from living in Medicine Bow for a short time... I guessed he had some health issues because he canceled a couple hunts.. We hoped to get together for dinner.. Never happened much to my loss..
I was stunned when I saw the posting of Bob's passing. I had not spoken directly with him for some time & did not know he was so ill.
Here are pics that I posted for Bob a few years ago with a very nice Wyoming (as I recall) elk.
Bob was a great guy that I enjoyed talking to & we exchanged a few things; I will surely miss his presence here.

Thnx MM
I appreciate you posting them.

29 pages and counting is a testament to his character. He raised the bar here and we are better for it.
Godspeed sir.

Looks like old school wool hunting apparel to me
Awesome pictures

Yes, Bob hunted that elk from Elk Mountain a few miles west of Laramie.
Oh this is so sad. I just found this post. I didn't know Bob personally but shared a lot of PM's with him. He always' displayed the patience and wisdom I pray for on a daily basis. My prayers go out to his family and friends.
R.I.P. Bob
Terry
He was one of the good ones here. Happy hunting in the next life Bob.
This about says it....
Sad to see this.
Fire won't be the same. RIP Bob!
Bob just turned 67. I took great joy in reminding him I was his senior by about 50 days.
We have been pals since 1981. During that time I averaged talking to him about once a day.
Bob was living in NH when he started here so his moniker "BobinNH". He talked me into joining so I used "RinB" Rick in Boise.
A few years thereafter he moved back to the Boston area.
When I saw that Bob had passed on, I was caught without words. He was too young. Bob and I have shared conversations over email, text, and phone over the years, and I feel a personal loss, not to mention that the CF has lost a significant, and a very valuable contributor. May God be with his family and loved ones.
Just learned of his passing........RIP Bob, you were a good person!!
Oh drat! I had no idea until just now.
BobinNH was a fellow whose opinions I respected. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
His
obit on the funeral home website.
Click on "Robert L. Farese". It has a picture and more details about his personal life. Who pictured Bob as a young professional accordion player for weddings, anniversaries, dances, and the like?
R.I.P. Bob.

Thank you for that.
The forums can be impersonal but Bob was not that guy. Our exchanges went one direction, him sharing insights and ideas with me.
Very nice guy, knew his stuff.
I am bummed at the loss of someone I never had the chance to speak with in person...
I didn't know he was an attorney.
I knew he was a lawyer - he mentioned it more than once....
however, I never thot he was 'sissy'
enuff to play an accordion.
Sorry Bob, just kidding!
Jerry

And what's wrong with playing an accordion? Ummm PaPa, Ummm PaPa!

Not a damn thing. My uncle made quite a living doing it!
I know, y'all know I was joking.
I never thunk about Bob as a musician. Not a bad thing, just never crossed my mind.

So you'll be serenading the deer in KS this year with bellows in Bob's honor?

Might even bring the dueling banjos and float down the river in a canoe past a couple of his stands!
He would have loved that!
Wow, such sad news and such a young age.
RIP buddy, you'll be missed.
I was forced to take accordion lessons at a young age, still have it sitting in the closet . One day it will be collectible

I think most of us of a certain age were forced to take accordion lessons by our mothers who watched 'Lawrence Welk' on TV. Must have been some sort of a rite of passage back then. No doubt Bob's mom was a Myron Florn fan, too!

Exact reason my parents wanted me to take up that hated instrument
My folks tried too -- the accordion no less.
That's Xactly why I thot of 'sissy', wasn't having it !!
I'd been more interested in the 'geetar'

I wanted to play the guitar phugging badly. My next door neighbors both boys started with the accordian and then graduated to a Cordovox. Sad day
Prayers and condolences to Bob's family and many friends.
I only knew Bob through emails of shared interest in the M70, valued his expertise and always enjoyed his sage insight penned on the campfire. Bob was a class act, the 'fire lost one of their best, he will be missed.
Sorry to hear that! I enjoyed his posting. RIP Bob.
I am sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his faamily and friends. I never had the privilege to get to know Bob, and that is my loss. RIP!
A friend just told me of this thread and of Bobs passing. What a loss. I had e-corresponded with him about all things Page and Mashburns many times. We shared a few phone calls and I was impressed with his logical, serious thought.
We are all poorer for his passing. May his life be praised and his family comforted. Cancer is an evil affliction and I can only hope he is in a better place now, where the deer and elk are always cooperative.
God speed fellow hunter, you are home from the hill.
Bob also posted over on AR.
A quick search for Eastcoaster will bring up his posts.
Rick,
There's not much that I can add that hasn't been said. Quite honestly, I couldn't respond to your post on the day you made it.
Eerily, I think that was the day I dropped off some rifle parts at Norbert Costa's and we talked a bit about you.
We all are lesser men with the loss of someone like Bob.
RIP. Enjoyed reading his knowledgeable posts.
Enjoyed the pics, hate hearing of the news.
Indeed, one of the really good guys here, and will be missed.
RIP Bob and my condolences and prayers to all the family.
I hated hearing of Bob's passing, he went out of his way to help me with a Mashburn. Would not surprise me to see him again on the other side.
