How can someone commit "treason" against a political candidate who is not part of the federal government?

Trump Junior has been accused of treason for taking the meeting. Trying to get dirt on your opponent is not an attempt to tamper with the election or "election system."

There is no treason here. What Trump and his band of retards will be prosecuted for is criminal conspiracy under 18 U.S.C. Section 371.

What it sounds to me like is a case of simply making the charges before actually creating any evidence.

You'd think that just one solid document of evidence would have been produced by now after the better part of a year passing, as well as over 130 major news stories that are all over the map.
