Down to my lowly 270 and 243 with a 223 for schits and giggles..

I turned in my looney card so I won't embarrass the fine 24 HR members here. Also got vaccinated against Creedfever, though I have a spare 6x42 and Talleys sitting in the box. I think I'll hang them on the tree as ghosts of Christmas past....

A lot of us need do the same. I have a Matched pair of old Browning Safari rifles (small ring Mauser) in 308 and 243. Long ago I decided these two would do anything that I am likely to do, but one 223 would make a nice kicker. I have three to choose from.

That way I could sell about twenty center fire rifles and simplify my life. Why not? Well, it seems guns are a bit soft right now. Wait until the next socialist is elected.

Your "purge" will remain safe until the virus changes its genetic structure and again you will be afflicted with night sweats and lost sleep.

ha ha ha I'm with Jack!

I could probably get down to my .308 Adirondack and a .22LR but I can't figure out which of my other guns to get rid of... they are all good shooters, better lookers, or have good stories. And I've been good at inventing "roles" for them all to play...

such is life...

Congratulations!!! I am still downsizing to a sensible battery too. I will have to turn in my loony card as well. I am down to my 204, 221, 223, and a 6.5 Creedmoor. I have embraced the fact that I am a varmint hunter. I caught the Creedfever... but I don't regret it.

That's a perfect battery for here in MT... but I've given up on the idea of perfection as it relates to anything rifle. Were I to pare down it would still be a pair of 308's and a 22lr.

What is "sensible" in terms of battery size and make up. I'd love to decrease the number who live in my safe but can't determine who goes first...

Just as well ditch the 243 while you're at it. 223 covers the light bullet loads, as well as 75-80s for decent long range fun. The 270 loaded down or with 6.8 bullets covers the heavy 243 end, with 145 eld-xs, 170 Bergers, or swaged down 162 amaxs to cover the really long range stuff, plus good old 130-150 grain hunting bullets for general use..

I too made the purge several years ago. Giving away rifles to my children or selling rifles to purchase one to fit their needs. I'm down with to a custom 7mm RM, custom 7mm-08 and a .223. Very happy and the children are too.

When reality rears it's ugly head, the Savage and the 25-06 still get out some, but I'm doing it mostly with rimfires and the .222 these days.

Here's my Big Stick style reply since Rick may restrict me to one post a day now:

Jt- rifles are soft as schit

'Whoop- there's got to be a cure. I'll start a go fund me page

Duct- I called an audible and it was easy.

Theo- like a flu shot, only free'er

Brad- still like your 270 Montana best

Pointer- yes sir!

OSU - it gets easier after the first one

Goat - you couldn't pay me to hand load and the 243 is referred to as "The Hot Momma Rifle" (hint)

Mag Bob- I'm helping put my attorneys kids through college (hint)

rdd- glad I could join the club

Good talk, not hard to decipher those that shoot and those that don't.

Since I'm now laying rifles in the corners of the house because the safe is full. I should probably do the same. I have sensible rifles that make sense for the most part and don't really want to get rid of them though.

I could dump the .35 Rem 760 since I have a .35 Whelen 7600. And maybe the M70 Extreme Weather that I've never carried, but that one makes the most sense to keep! My Mauser is my favorite and not going any where. I'd probably keep that over all the others.
