To each his own, I think that thing looks silly.
My F550 ran a little north of $500k, but it is also my house so two birds with one stone.

All kinds in West Texas. Oil field wheels (tax write off), unmarried mexican women with 5 kids and on welfare ( the mate is working in the oilfied making $85,000 per- she gets tons of govrt help, plus they live in a $150,000 house and wefare gives 2 week notice so hubby moves out before wefare checkup, granny babysits kids for a few grand a mo from the govt),
Mexican yard boys who need a 4wd to pull a trailer down the street with 3 lawn mowers and weedeaters, ....10 year pay out plan.

Its freaking unreal. I see oilfied pumpers in the field driving $80,000 platinum f250s.

Lots of oilfied wielders out ther making $200,000 per in the boom.

Holliday Inn rooms for $400/ night here right now.

God Bless Trump and America.

Who is buying a $100,000 pickup? The smart ones buy it when it’s a 3 year old lease return with 28,000 highway miles and all service performed timely at the dealership, paying 1/3 what it went for 3 years earlier.

Exactly! Some nice used trucks out there with lots of bells and whistles and low miles.

My current ride is an 09 Ram 1500 with 280k, and it's still going strong.

I can't wait to see an ad for 79,990 for a used pickup.

In many parts of the country, pickups retain value much better than most vehicles. In our market, used pickups are very expensive.

In 1993 I bought my truck new....got it Dec 20 so it had been on the lot for a year...I was able to get a pretty good discount on it...I think 23 k
My buddies at work all bought new truck that year...2 fords and one dodge guy....I'm the only one who is still has it...they have all had 3-5 new trucks since...imagine how much money that has cost...instead I payed mine off and invested what would have been a truck payment...it did well....I was able to buy new motorcycles a boat and several hunting trips....those same guys still couldn't figure out how I could afford to do that...simple payed for truck cheap insurance...just carry liability.....banks want full coverage...it totals up to some real money at the end of the year...
No new truck for me...I'll keep the old 93

My question is who is financing them......there’s going to be hell to pay. Tick, tock, tick, tock.....what do you suppose it is, about a quarter to midnight on the latest bubble created by the buffoons at the Federal Reserve? And it won’t just be pickups.....the carriage is going to turn back to a pumpkin and the footmen to mice...

That’s about the only way I would buy one.

My 2WD Silverado turned 30 in April. I have owned it for 17 years. I have replaced the engine and transmission with Jasper remans, it lives in the garage, and gets 2-3k miles on it per year. Basically, it only gets driven when I need a truck or, if it has set for a couple weeks I will run an errand with it just to drive it.

My daily driver is a recently purchased off-lease ‘15 Subaru Forester to replace my ‘08 Chevy Equinox that got totaled. The Subaru should get me through any snow we will have here.

I sure like the looks of a newer Chevy 4WD 4 door truck, and I could pay cash for a late model one in a few years, but no way I can justify it. I nearly shat myself writing the $1100 check for sales tax and license for the 3 year old Subaru.

72 month truck loans, there’s going to be a lot of fancy trucks repoed during the next recession. I might buy a new low end diesel before I retire to wander the country in pulling a trailer. But it’s not going to be 100k.

Many types but certainly those who have the desire for a luxury truck, can afford one, and can also write it off.

You are the winner, depreciate the truck out. Or purchase to beat taxes. Either way there write offs! Around here it's mostly farmers, loggers and businesses!

Considering that I make a lot more than 4X what I earned in 1985, and I'm getting a lot more truck:$40K isn't out of line. In fact relative to wages it is cheaper.

Checking an inflation calculator...

$10K in 1985 would equal $23,400 in 2018 money.

$40K now would equal $17,100 in 1985 dollars...

A 70-100k pickup is bought by people who don't even know what a pickup is, because pickups are rarely sold anymore.

The best thing I saw was a guy that came in (as the truck was shutting down) for DEF.

He got what he wanted, but either the salesman skipped the DEF part or the guy got what he wanted.

[bleep] that is totaled from a deer hit isn't in the "truck" classification. YMMV.

Was at the Chevy dealership the other day and they had a Traverse for $55K. A Traverse. Not a Tahoe or a Suburban, but a Traverse. When people are spending $55K for a SUV/crossover/minivan type vehicle, $100K for a truck doesn't seem that crazy.

Personally, it's hard for me to pull the trigger on anything over $35K, but lots of people are driving around in what some people pay for houses.

I paid $40,000 for a 2003 Ram 3500 with Lance overhead camper , used, in 2005. 33,000 miles . Gotta change the oil tomorrow before heading to Interior, then Outside. It is just over 80,000 - but then, we have been in Kotzebue the last 8 years...

Today, I took my beater to town - 1990 Chev 3500 , diesel, with about 240,000 on it. (Many mosquitos died! smile ) Bought in '93 with 30,000 on it, for $15,000. Should check to see if the oil needs changing I guess... I know damned well the rings do... Haven't changed oil in 8 years, nor driven it much....

The '97 Expedition (bought from an Anchcorage fleet rental with 30,000 on it, in late '97, for $29,000) is sitting blocking the driveway- also with over 200,000 on it. And all 4 sets of keys in my wife's purse in Kotzebue, 600 miles north...

Her "new" (used, '17, 22,000 mile Expedition - $40,000) is in car storage in Anchorage, waiting for her when she leaves Kotz the final time on Friday.

Only people with more money than brains buy new.

I think I need to set up a rotating driving schedule, here..... smile

Actually, the '97 Expedition is going to Fairbanks son, partly for his use, partly for ours when we fly up. And I need my junker for trash/gravel//etc. 'cuz putting the camper back on the Ram is a real PITA!

Except for the '17 Expedition, they are all paid for.... and working.

We are now probably good 'til we die....
